If you’ve ever prepared and competed in a Burnout Competition you’ll have some idea how much time, effort & money goes into getting a car ready for show, well try doing it with 2 cars.
Matt James knows all too well about this and is currently campaigning 2 Top Level cars across the country and is set to make some serious smoke & noise at Burnout King this Friday.
If you had to describe the perfect start to a Burnout Season you could pretty much use Matt’s last 3 months as an example.
With a career Highlight of not only winning the Summernats Burnout Masters in “UNWANTED” but also taking 2nd place as well in “COMPACT” you can be sure that this achievement won’t be mirrored anytime soon. To get one car into the Masters Final is a huge achievement, to get 2 is virtually unheard of. But to then take 1st & 2nd is an achievement in the Sport that is truly remarkable.
He then went on to take 1st & 3rd at Motorvation (1st Compact / 3rd Unwanted) so you’d be pretty comfortable in saying Matt knows what it takes to prepare and more importantly drive a Blown Injected car to the Winners Podium.
But this wasn’t enough, he then went on to take 1st & 2nd place at Gazzanats WA so it’s starting to become a habit.
Talking with Matt during the week it was interesting to note that of the 2 cars his personal favourite is COMPACT. It’s been in the family since 1995 and was originally the “parts car” for another Ford Compact that was being restored. After sitting in the shed for many years it has been given a new lease on life with a complete transformation at Cronic Customs, and with the help of Blown Motorsports the car is now sporting a Screaming Blown Small Block Chev, yes that’s right. It’s running a Chev.
With both cars now running consistently at the top of the field Matt is happy to leave them unchanged and continue to punish them at every opportunity, and if you’ve heard either car out on the Pad you’ll know Matt is not afraid to rev the absolute a** out of either car.
Knowing Matt though, he can’t seem to rest and there’s word of another car in the Build. Watch this space.
Matt would like to thank the continued support of Cronic Customs, Blown Motorsport, G & G Towing, Phenomenal Detailing & Pro Spray.
