MADDINGTON TOYOTA TRIPLE CROWN.
Last weekend over 180 racers faced the starter in a double header event that not only saw the WA Drag Racing Champions decided but also the national Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series Champions crowned as well!
Over 1100 runs went down the track over the two days with many personal bests achieved along with a whopping 20 new track records being re-set in the Group Two Classes.
In Competition Eliminator Kyle Putland upped the A/Altered Automatic Speed to 200.48mph (322.65 km/h), David Roberts set both ends of the EE/Dragster Automatic records to 7.774 sec @ 181.27mph (291.73 km/h) and Sam Gullotto smashed the BB/Altered Production EFI Automatic class in the DS Racing GTO resetting the marks to 6.587 sec @ 207.62mph (334.14 km/h).
In the highly competitive Super Stock bracket Todd Stacy annihilated the RR/Gas record previously held by his father setting the news marks to 7.594sec @ 179.33mph (288.60 km/h). Three interstate racers also got in on the act with South Australians Alex Panagiotidis resetting E/Gas Automatic to 8.584sec @ 155.73mph (250.63 km/h) and Steve Norman lowering the D/Gas Automatic record to 8.268sec @ 162.30mph (261.20 km/h). Victorian Rob Dekert drove back to Melbourne and fitted a new powerplant after suffering engine damage at the Westernationals two weeks earlier and was rewarded with a new B/Altered Production record at 7.101sec @ 192.16mph (309.26 km/h).
The Track Records also copped a hammering in Competition Bike with Justin Townson resetting his own Elapsed Time record in CC/Comp Bike Nitrous to 7.472 sec. and his father Ross Townson set the BB/Comp Bike Nitrous records 7.740sec @ 166.34mph 267.70 km/h). Ross Smith set the B/Altered Bike marks to 8.184sec @ 160.36mph (258.08 km/h). Victorian Rob Cassar had to change motors during the event and came away with both ends of the Track Records for AA/Comp Bike Nitrous at 7.322sec @ 177.67mph (285.94 km/h).
