WA Formula 500 legend John Andersson will be honoured at Perth Motorplex on Saturday, October 15, where he will serve as the Grand Marshal for the Speedway Grand Opening.
The 74 year old is a three times Australian champion, taking titles across the country in Claremont, Murray Bridge and Bundaberg.
Add to that six WA State titles and a Northern Territory championship to boot and Andersson is one of the greatest drivers ever to compete in the Formula 500 division.
Andersson will be presented with his Australian Speedway Hall of Fame induction trophy (right) during the night.
Perth Motorplex speedway manager Gavin Migro said it was an honour to have Andersson as Grand Marshal.
“I have never heard anyone have a bad word to say about Johnny, he is a true legend of the sport,” he said. “When I first started racing speedway he used to look after me with repairing my car and he has helped many people over the years in the same way, building engines and working on cars. He continues to be active in the sport today.”
The Speedway Grand Opening commences from 6pm on Saturday, for more event details click here.
