He has been the most successful of any driver in the country since the event was first run at the Perth Motorplex back in the summer of 2001-02.
On that occasion Queenslander Allan Butcher won but Blake was second.
The following year WA driver Ryan Halliday won the event in Perth and again Blake was second.
Blake’s first victory came in the third title race, beating home Marc Giancola and Jaron Crane in 2003-04.
He claimed back-to-back victories in 2005-06 and 2006-07.
In 2008-09 Blake was second to the first of Marc Giancola’s national title wins before he took wins again in 2010-11 (Mildura) and 2013-14 (Mt Gambier).
Recent form hasn’t been on Blake’s side heading into the DiCandilo Steel City Australian Late Model Championship to be held at the Perth Motorplex this Friday and Saturday nights.
From the four local rounds he has claimed a fourth, 12th, ninth and a third to be fifth overall in the track championship.
While victory in recent times has eluded Blake we know that champions always step up to the plate when the time counts and it might just be that time this weekend.
Be here on both nights to see how it all unfolds.
