For his young age, Kye Blight has accomplished in a short amount of time more than what others hope to do in a full career.
A former National and State Sedan Champion, Blight recently stepped into what is arguably the toughest sedan category of all, Late Models.
After missing the opening rounds of the Perth Motorplex Late Model season, Blight is a welcome addition to the star studded field that is preparing for their major hit out in January when the USA and interstate drivers arrive.
“Over the off season, I was employed by Paul Stubber to play a crew chief role for his 49-Race schedule in the US,” Blight said. “We had a lot of fun, worked really hard and learnt a lot.”
Blight will be campaigning a brand new Longhorn chassis this season, but has no expectations going into the second half of the season. “Our goals are to compete with the best and make our team and sponsors proud. Winning races is how everyone kind of judges your success, so we aim to be winning races.”
See Blight and a whole host of Late Model stars track-side this Saturday night for the John Day Classic.
