Shaun Bradford knows a thing or two about memorial races and this Saturday night will be looking to add another memorial trophy to his collection at the Perth Motorplex.
A lot of attention at the Magic Man 34 will be on the Speedcar division but the finals for the Sprintcars and Late Models will also be decided over 34 laps – representing the racing number of the late, great Michael Figliomeni.
Bradford, a third-generation racer, will be seeing his third successive Magic Man 34 Sprintcar trophy.
Just like the Figliomeni clan, the Bradfords have been involved in speedway for decades and have nothing but respect for each other.
Last year Bradford won the Magic Man 34, only a week after he won the Bonza Bradford Memorial that is held in honour of his late father Ian, a former WA Sprintcar champion, at Pithara Speedway.
If form is anything to go by then Bradford will be hard to discount this weekend, as he won that race again last Saturday night.
This is on the back of his third placing at the Grand Opening Showdown here last month.
Bradford is one of 18 drivers locked into the second round of the Wormall Civil Sprintcar track championship.
Brad Maiolo, who finished second in round one, along with Lee Nash, Jason Kendrick, Jamie Maiolo, Cameron Gessner, Trent Pigdon, David Priolo and Ben Ellement are some of the other drivers looming as serious chances of victory.
