Ben Ellement will be chasing round wins when World Series Sprintcars arrives in Western Australia this week and he contests the first round of the Western Swing at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday night.
But the second-generation racer is also mindful of not putting too much on the line, ensuring he will be finishing the races as well.
The World Series event is also part of the local AHG Sprintcar Series where Ellement is second in points on 1524, not too far from leader and defending series champion Brad Maiolo on 1659.
The driver of the Wormall Motorsport W44 said reducing the margin, along with trying to show the visiting drivers who is boss, will be a delicate balancing act.
“Obviously we are racing our domestic competition within the World Series Sprintcars competition, so you sort of have to be mindful of where you are it,” Ellement said
“That is something you balance as you go.
“If you are out of the points, you will probably go a bit harder.”
Ellement returns to WA after a solid campaign on the east coast where he showed plenty of pace against the best in the country and a star-studded American field.
