James McFadden is without a doubt one of speedway’s hottest properties right now and he’s going to be rolling into Perth Motorplex with a fresh new team.
McFadden has joined forces with Monte Motorsport to drive the Milwaukee Tools Sprintcar and this Saturday night’s Speedway Grand Opening at Perth Motorplex marks his first official outing with the team.
McFadden, twice an Australian Sprintcar Champion and twice a World Series Sprintcars title winner, said some testing on Wednesday night got him more comfortable with the car, allowing his confidence to grow.
“I’m looking forward to the Grand Opening to see what we have got,” he said. “It’s a whole different package to what I had last year, having to learn with new crew chiefs and new cars.
“It’s going to be a challenge to get comfortable with each other for these first few races but on Wednesday night we made some really good gains.”
McFadden will be taking on a classy field of Wormall Civil Sprintcars, including reigning AHG Series champion Brad Maiolo and brother Jamie, Jason Kendrick and more.
While McFadden plans on easing himself into the night, the idea of running around the track mid-pack doesn’t appeal greatly to him.
“We want to learn more about the car and for us it is a bit of a test and tune, that said we are not going there to just run around. We obviously have a big season up ahead with about 40 races in the calendar to the end of World Series Sprintcars, hitting up all the big meets.”
Wormall Civil Sprintcar qualifying begins from 5pm on Saturday with the main show, also featuring Quest Apartments Late Models, Pool Shop Group Speedcars, Alltools Formula 500s and Harris Engines Wingless Sprints, starting from 6pm.
