Slamars Ford is off to the US...

*** UPDATE *** 27 July 2010
The stunning Troy Slamar Ford, featured in the June 24 article below, is now loaded into a container heading for the US with a date with famed race car builder Jerry Haas.

The Ford, destined to carry a whopping 903ci of Sonny Leonards best, will be completed at Haas' Fenton, Missouri race shop and will be back in Australia in just 10 weeks.

Upon its return to Perth the car will be painted and signwritten in the sponsors, northern suburbs New Jersey Outcasts, colours.

Troy will be sending motorplex.com.au updated pictures of the next stage of the build as they come to hand.

All going to plan, Slamar is working towards debuting the vehicle at the October 30 WA Drag Racing season opener.

*** June 24 Story ***
The 10th season of Drag Racing in Western Australia has barely finished and already the anticipation for the next chapter in West Australian Drag Racing history is ramping up.

A number of new vehicles are being prepared for the assault on the Perth Motorplex quarter mile including this stunning new piece currently being put together by Malaga's Byrne Race Cars for Troy Slamar.

The chassis has been built from blue prints supplied by US based Tim Mcamas Race Cars.

It is a double rail construction made entirely from chrome moly.

The body will be a late model Ford Falcon FG GT (you can just hear the Ford fans from here!)

Byrne Race Cars propietor Greg Byrne stated that Slamar has two engines ready for combat.

"Troy will start with a 500ci Shaffaroff combo and once sorted he will slide in a whopping 903ci Sony Leonard power plant" Byrne said.

He continued "He has no particular class in mind as yet, he just wants to go and play!"

Byrne Race Cars have been put on notice...we must have more pictures as the build progresses (especially of the 903 cube of Sony Leonard's best!) - so stay tuned for updates!
