| The big news is that the Top Doorslammer championship is on fire with John
Zappia going down to Maurice Fabietti in the Holden Genuine Parts Monaro in the quickest side by side race in Australia
with Fabietti's oh so close 6.000 second elapsed time beating Zappia's quicker 5.99 at the Summernationals at Western
Sydney last weekend! 7 of the top 8 qualifiers qualified with a time of 6.09 seconds or quicker with Fabietti being the odd man out with his 6.17 ET being the new record bump spot. And how tough is Top Doorslammer? Well Fabietti won with times of 6.10, 6.03 and the Zappia beating 6.000! And to throw a cat amongst the pigeons Brett Stevens Racing's Kath Stevens who did not qualify even after running a PB 6.22 second qualifying time came out later in the event and recorded a sensational 5.95 second became the first woman in the world to record a sub 6 second time in a 'doorslammer! Qualifying alone will be drama filled with 12 Top Doorslammers trying to fight their way into the 8 car field. |
