WORLD SERIES PLANNING AHEAD

World Series Sprintcars Working Party Sets Direction for Future.

In what is set to become an annual occurrence, Speedway Promotions Australia’s (SPA) six member tracks met last week to discuss their inaugural WSS season and to plan for the future direction of World Series Sprintcars.

With the feedback received during the year being heard loud and clear by all SPA members and after numerous discussions with interested parties, it was decided to invite three competitor representatives to the meeting with the aim to have them included in the working party that will set the future direction of WSS.

SPA’s six member tracks were joined by Mr Ross Allen (Sprintcars Australia General Manager), Mr Dale Rodgers (Sprintcar P/L General Manager) and Mr Barry Waldron (Car Owner).

The attendees were briefed on all aspects of the WSS operations including but not limited to, administration, financial, operational, logistical, promotional, media relations, TV and sponsorship as well as competitor and track issues.

Also invited to brief the meeting were Mr Mike Cowan the current merchandise operator (Heads Caps) and the big screen operator Mr Steve Timmis (Big Screens Australia).

With the wealth of information available the meeting discussed all relevant issues and set both long and short term goals for WSS.

A draft calendar for the 2008/2009 WSS was discussed and pencilled in with dates set to be locked in by the end of May.

The group will now transform itself into a working party comprising of three members of the SPA organisation and the three competitor representatives who will make recommendations to the SPA board for approval.

Expressions of interest from both competitors and tracks are welcomed and can be made by emailing
spa@worldseriessprintcars.com as soon as possible.

Further correspondence will be forwarded to interested parties in due course with a degree of urgency required so planning for this year’s series can be well advanced.
