WOULD THE LAST ONE TO LEAVE -
PLEASE TURN OUT THE LIGHTS!

East Coast fans will get to see the HITMAN in the flesh at this weekends Winternationals.

Australian Drag Racings biggest event - the season ending 41st Winternationals at Queenslands Willowbank Raceway will see a large contingent of West Australian Drag Racing teams and supporters heading east.

36 Race teams along with several hundred crew, supporters and spectators have commenced the exodus to Ipswich on the outskirts of Brisbane with many eyeing off a national title or an event win with many others just wishing to be a part of this national event.

For east coast fans the Winternationals will be an opportunity to see west coast vehicles for the first time including Tony and Gillian Argentino's wild Supercharged Outlaw - the famed Hitman 36 Chev.

The ex US Pro Modified became an instant fan favourite since it's Australian debut at the Perth Motorplex this season with the unique Hitman t shirts being a must have for drag racing collectors.

Argentino will not be the only West Aussie in the Carpenter Ford Supercharged Outlaws with Lindsay Catalano and Mark Chapman also making the long haul to the season grand finale.

Chapman's Mustang is a sensational piece that looks more suited to a car show than it's regular 7 second 300kmh (186mph) quarter mile blasts.

The West Australian team includes Group One racers Martin Stamatis and Allan Dobson in Top Fuel, the Ashelford brothers in Top Bike, newly crowned champion John Zappia and Robin Judd in Top Doorslammer and Aaron Deery in Top Alcohol.

There is also a strong presence in Group 2 with no less than 3 AA/AP entries competing. Maurice Brennan, Pino Priolo and Mario Puglia will be all appearing with their 6 second ‘baby’ slammers along with Mickael Dequen (C/AA).

Super Stock will see former champion Geoff Chaisty returning to the national stage in his G/GA, Allen Puglia in Australia’s quickest B/G and West Australian Super Stock champion Graeme Simms in F/G.

One of the biggest Comp Bike fields in history has been boosted with four West Australian teams including the seven second missiles of Gordon Crawford (CC/CB) and the ‘must see’ blown Kawasaki BB/CB of Kevin and Dale Gummow along with West Australian champ Neil Anderson and Reg McCallum on their B/SB’s.

West Aussie Group three racers can be found in all eliminators excepting Modified including the current Super Sedan and Modified Bike national champions Shane Wynd and Adam Ewing returning to defend their hard fought titles.

With over 500 race teams from every corner of this great country the 41st Castrol Edge Winternationals is shaping up to be one of the greatest drag racing events in the annals of Australian motorsport.
