IT'S SMILES ALL ROUND FOR BRENNAN

A national magazine cover story, the acquisition of 2 major sponsors and a fistful of strong on-track performances has more than satisfied the first season expectations of resurrected drag racer Maurice Brennan.
A quick glance over the timecards reveals a striking debut for the supercharged Boomeracing VT Commodore that spent the year in Competition Eliminator.

“We’re just learning as we go, and there’s so much more to learn, but on paper it really has been a year of advances,” says the pilot of the 350kmh rocket, Maurice Brennan.

Topping the highlights of the debut season was a breathtaking 6.55 second elapsed time for the quarter mile at the 37th Annual Chill Westernationals in March this year, grabbing both national press and web attention.

“The whole team is new at this but we’re all learning together and enjoying it despite the frustrations we’ve had.”

And in addition to the home soil success, the Boomeracing team headed east to Willowbank raceway for last weekends’ Winternationals to record another strong 6.65 second pass at 209 mph (336kmh) before overpowering the track in the next pass.

“But the engine is as strong as ever, and we’ve sorted out plenty of niggling issues ready for the next season.”

The team will take a well deserved break until October when the Perth Motorplex blasts back into action, with the jaw dropping VT Commodore certain to make some crowd pleasing low six second passes right from the start of the season.
