The 45th Annual Goldenstates this Saturday will feature not just the return of the Summit Sportsman Series to WA, where racers vie for national points, but also a nitro and doorslammer double header sure to entertain.
Andrew Katavatis and the Beach Bomb are back after drawing first blood against car owner Rory Taylor and his driver Matt Abel at the Shannons Powerpalooza in October. Abel will this time be back in the late model Camaro known as Fun-da-mental, aiming to defuse the Beach Bomb before it can detonate any more win lights.
The second round of the Summer Slam Series is a wide open affair. Opening round winner John Zappia is away and there are eight drivers keen to take advantage and seize the points lead for themselves. Daniel Gregorini has been consistently in the fives and will come in as a favourite, but will face a performance threat from Marty Dack who broke into the 5.7 second zone earlier in the year. Steve Aldridge finally put his Cuda into the fives at the WA Drag Racing Championships and will be looking for more, while Wayne Keys and his new Camaro are chasing the set up for a two step launch limiter he hopes will see quicker times. Throw in Mark Chapman in the new look Penrite Plymouth, the Moresby brothers Ryan and Stu in their matching Dananni Hotshots cars and Pino Priolo’s 37 Chev (in a stunning new livery) and you have the recipe for slamming excitement on Saturday, December 1.
Qualifying begins from 10am, with eliminations racing from 4pm and the feature program from 5.30pm.
