THERE will be plenty of action across all divisions when the Super Speedway Grand Opening Showdown is held at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday night.

Featured divisions are the Wormall Civil Sprintcars, The Pool Shop Group Speedcars, Late Models, AJ Cochrane and Sons Formula 500s and Harris Engines Wingless Sprints.

Daniel Hartigan will be the man to beat in the second round of the Harris Engines Wingless Sprint track championship.

The current Australian champion won the opening round of the series in the first round of the FAST Racing Series here last Saturday night, taking the 15-lap final from Murray Iwanow and Tom Payet.

He was also undefeated in both his heats.

Tyson Bryden and Daniel Coleman won the other two heats and all three are part of the 17-car field nominated for this Saturday night.

Brad Fitzgerald, in the #96 entry, heavily damaged his car last weekend and it will be a race against time for him to be for round two

A top field has entered for the opening Formula 500 battle, headed up by two-time Perth Motorplex track champion Andrew Priolo.

Priolo has won the last two track championships, winning the points deal from Thomas Davies and brother Jason Priolo in 2013-14.

Davies is also in the field this weekend and is looking to go one better than Andrew Priolo this season.

Jason Priolo won’t be in the field however as he is now racing in 360 sprintcars and finished second in the opening 360 feature race here last Saturday night.

Mark House is one of the many drivers who are capable of a podium finish in the Grand Opening Showdown and is worth following.

Another is David Sinagra who has a freshly-prepared engine/chassis combination and when he has the package sorted is a very competitive driver.

The professionalism of Troy Johnson can never be overlooked.

He has come along in leaps in bounds in recent seasons and has shown that he is more than capable of winning races these days.

Shane Andersson and Brett Janssen have teamed up in a two-car assault for 2014-15 and between then have 41 years of racing experience.

It will be interesting to see how this translates into results on the track given how much preparation has been put in during the off-season.

Chris Dymock, Gavin Connelly, Adrian Fogliani and Adrian La Macchia are just some of the other drivers locked in for a big battle over the two 10-lap races and a 15-lap final.

Book your tickets online and we will see you trackside this Saturday night.
