The Speedway Legends are coming
THIS season the Perth Motorplex is going to pay tribute to the past champions of Western Australian Speedway with select champions from yesteryear being special guests at each Super Speedway round.
At the Grand Opening Showdown on Saturday, October 18, former Sprintcar star Shane Murphy along with Ben Ludlow (Sedans), Des Ferris (Formula 500s) and Graham Jones (Speedcars) will be recognised.
A special feature on the opening night will be a display from the WA Classic Speedway Club inside the main gate, featuring the machines from yesteryear. Rex McKay will have his famous #23 Valentino Offy on display which is an amazing car.
Murphy, the son of renowned chassis constructor Geoff Murphy, started his career in the Formula 500 division, winning a feature race at Claremont in the 1982-83 season before spending three years in Speedcars.
He then stepped up to Sprintcars, winning 22 main events at the world-famous Claremont Speedway, along with winning three WA titles.
Come and see the ‘Wild One’ at the opening meeting that will feature the Wormall Civil Sprintcars, The Pool Shop Group Speedcars, Late Models, AJ Cochrane & Sons Formula 50s and Harris Engines Wingless Sprints.
And to top it all off we will light up the night sky with the 15th season Fireworks.
Book your tickets online and we will see you trackside on Saturday, October 18.
