Western Australia has long been a strong Nitro-Fuelled state in the world of Drag Racing. Especially in the recent years as the numbers competing in the local Nitro Max field at Perth Motorplex have been seemingly getting stronger!

With some fantastic competition…comes some interest from the east – as proven with the Motorplex regularly being a second home to Victoria’s Tim Stewart with his Oldsmobile Firenza Funny Car “IN A FRENZY”.

The east-coast invasion will be heating up a whole lot more in April, as the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars will make the trip over to challenge the West-Aussies once again! Bringing four of their best to the fight:

  • Morice McMillin in NITRO EXPRESS
  • Josh Leahy in BANDIT
  • Justin Walshe in TERMINATOR
  • Brandon Gosbell in KING KONG

“It’s awesome to be heading back to Perth in a couple of weeks, we had a great time last season at the Nitro Max: East vs West event where we (the east) took the honours. I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel of these machines again in front of a great Perth crowd!” – Morice McMillin – Aeroflow Nitro Funny Cars

The invaders won’t have it easy however – as the WA Nitro Max teams have shown some serious strength this season! Including James Kemp driving ANIMAL to a recent 5.76s P.B, Tim Stewart continuing to find the sweet spot with IN A FRENZY, and George Separovich steering the Dimoff Bros FED to some great runs – plus the incredible racing between Shannon Taylor (GRUMPY) and Andrew Katavatis (THE BEACH BOMB) going 1-all with some fantastic A-final races at the Nitro Max rounds so far this season.

It’s yet to be seen exactly WHO will raise their hand to take on the Aeroflow challengers – with rumors and speculation circulating around several more Nitro cars potentially making a return to the ‘Plex – even Tommy Johnson Jr. stated he would love to come back and race, after his recent trip to Perth for the Nitro SLAM event on March 23 left him wanting more!

The April 13 event will also see the Grand Final of the WA Drag Racing championship for all the local sportsman classes – where more than 100 drag racing teams will battle one final time this season for WA Drag Racing glory!

Keep an eye out for the entry list as more of the Nitro Max teams step up to the plate, to take on the outlaws at the Aeroflow Nitro Max Grand Final – April 13, the final Drag Racing event for the Perth Motorplex 2023/24 season – make sure to get your tickets and event info HERE.
