Perth Motorplex and VenuesWest are proud to announce that a major venue lighting upgrade project is now underway at Perth Motorplex.
The project involves the complete removal and replacement of all existing lighting infrastructure servicing both the Drag Strip and Speedway venue.
The existing metal halide lighting system — including poles, cabling and associated infrastructure — is being replaced with a new LED sports lighting system delivering in excess of 1000 lux across key competition areas. This level of illumination is equivalent to overcast daylight and is ideal for detailed task work.
Following the conclusion of the 2025-26 racing season, Stiles Electrical commenced works in late April and have already completed the removal of all existing lighting poles throughout the venue, along with more than two kilometres of trenching and underground infrastructure works.
The project is currently progressing on schedule and is expected to be completed ahead of the 2026-27 Perth Motorplex season.
The lighting upgrade is one of the most significant infrastructure improvements undertaken at Perth Motorplex in recent years and will deliver a world-class lighting platform for competitors, teams and spectators.
