This year’s Electrical Group Training 54th Annual Westernationals will feature the NDRC Australian Championship classes for Top Fuel, Top Doorslammer, and Top Fuel Motorcycle, alongside the Aeroflow Sportsman Championship Series, bringing an incredible 196 entries to the track. If you love motorsport, this is an event you don’t want to miss!
Top Fuel – The Kings of Drag Racing
The world’s fastest accelerating cars are set to light up Perth Motorplex. Defending Australian Champion Damien Harris (Rapisarda Autosport International) is eager to continue his winning streak after his recent New Year Nitro victory. But the competition is fierce – Phil Read is chasing a hat-trick after winning the last two Westernationals, while Peter Xiberras returns to WA with PremiAir Racing. Also making a comeback is Phil Lamattina, now settled in his new Victorian home base.
Local favorite Kyle Putland from Maida Vale is looking to crack into the 3-second zone and shake up the competition in front of a passionate home crowd. Can he cause an upset? Be there to find out!

Top Doorslammer – The Wildest Full-bodied monsters
The Top Doorslammer division is back for its third NDRC Australian Championship event of the season in WA, with 13 supercharged beasts set to tear down the track!
All eyes are on WA’s own Russell Taylor, the defending Australian Champion and current points leader. Taylor will need to fend off some serious contenders, including Daniel Gregorini, Lisa Gregorini, John Zappia, Brodie Zappia, Matt Abel, Steve Aldridge, Frank Taylor, Mark Chapman, Maurice Brennan, Shane Catalano, and Sydney’s Jeremy Callaghan. Plus, Victorian drag racing legend Peter Kapiris is keen to make his presence known.
With local championship points also on the line in the Perth Motorplex’s Direct Mining & Industrial Top Doorslammer Championship, every run counts. Expect high-speed drama and photo-finish action!

Top Fuel Motorcycle – The Daredevils on Two Wheels
These riders are a different breed – it takes true guts to pilot a Top Fuel Motorcycle! A field of nine fearless competitors will battle it out, headlined by Australia’s fastest man on two wheels, Damian Muscat, and his blistering 5-second Puma-powered machine.
Reigning champion Benny Stevens is ready to battle against a stacked lineup including Wayne McGuinness, Greg Durack, Corey Buttigieg, Ian Ashelford, Kevin Gummow, Travis Lorraway, and Tony Wood. These machines are a handful – and the riders barely hold on! You’ll be on the edge of your seat as they rocket down the strip.
