Albeit a little later than originally planned – the Nitro Phoenix Damian Muscat is coming to Perth this season! Damian was originally scheduled to make an appearance on the West Coast back at the Burson Auto Parts 50th Goldenstates for the second round of the Australian Top Fuel Motorcycle Championship – but was unfortunately sidelined with a broken collarbone after the Drag Bike nationals in South Australia at the season opener.
Of course that event which he broke his collarbone was the very same in which Damien etched his name into the history books! On November 9 2024, Damien ran the quickest pass in Australian Drag Racing History – a 5.800s blast at 394.96kph at Dragway at the Bend! Lowering Chris ‘Nitro Voodoo’ Matheson’s record from a 5.920 set in Sydney in May 2023.
That 5.800 sees Damien sitting at the #9 all-time quickest in the world, within 0.3s of Larry ‘Spiderman’ McBrides world record 5.507s pass set at South Georgia Motorsports Park.
Now, Muscat sets his sights on the Westernationals – a chance at redemption to score an NDRC Gold Christmas tree on the West Coast, in an awesome field of 9 Top Fuel Motorcycle entries, including current Australian champ Benny Stevens! About those 5’s…if the conditions are ripe during Labor Day long weekend – who knows what could happen!
