The time for going fast is finally here! on the eve of the new drag racing season kicking off, Perth Motorplex is set to play host to over 140 of WA’s top drag racing teams, taking on the WA Drag Racing Championship Opener on Saturday November 2, headlined by Blown Alcohol Allstars and Top Fuel Motorcycle!
Blown Alcohol Allstars is constantly morphing and changing, as a feature racing bracket that pits all kinds of Supercharged & Alcohol-fuelled vehicles against eachother – allowing Dragsters, Funny Cars, Altereds and even Top Doorslammers to face off! The first round appears to be a case of ‘Top Doorslammer vs the world’ with no less than 5 Top Doorslammers taking on 2 Top Alcohol Altereds on Track – Including the Doorslammer debut of your Brodie Zappia, driving the iconic ‘Zap’s Rat’ machine after only completing his licencing process at last Sundays Test ‘N’ Tune! Blown Alcohol will also see the return of the Crown Racing Plymouth Barracuda driven by Steve Aldridge; following a lengthy rebuild process after a wild crash at the 51st Westernationals in March of 2022! Plus…add in Shane Catalano, Maurice Brennan and the defending WA Top Doorslammer champion John Zappia taking on the Altered challengers of Danny Costello (The Contractor) and Sam Treasure (Hemi Express) for an epic 3-round format of racing on Saturday night!

Top Fuel Motorcycle is set to kick off their new season with Greg Durack bringing out his Kawasaki Funny Bike to take on Tony Wood on the Wood Special Kawasaki and Travis Lorraway riding the BSR Nitro Harley! Ahead of the 50th Goldenstates where Perth Motorplex will play host to the 2nd round of the national Top Fuel Motorcycle Championship on November 22 & 23!
With some epic numbers of Top Doorslammers in Blown Alcohol…the Top Comp Field has been distilled to a battle of Turbo vs Blower & Door car vs Flopper with the defending Top Comp Champion Connor McClure debuting the NEW “SLIMER” Twin-turbo Corvette Pro Mod against a pair of funny cars! Led by Madison Brown’s BOSTON STRANGLER Funny Car and Michael King’s PROMLEM CHILD.

Super Comp will feature the defending WA Champion Matthew Puglia in the Ford Probe, leading out an exciting field of 7 cards, including Errol Quartermaine’s DD/Gas Ford Falcon, a trio of Rotary Powered RX-7’s (Dan Johnston, Brett Glover & Todd Stacy), plus Robert Gaikhorst in his C/Gas Nissan S15 and Rick John driving the only open-wheeled car in the field with his B/AA Altered.
Friday’s Seadoo & CanAm Competition Bike will roll out some of the fastest 2-wheeled machines with a field of 13 incredible bikes – everything from Owen Rose’s 700cc D/SB Triumph Daytona all the way to the Pro Stock Bike of Ryan Learmonth and the turbo monsters like Michael “Pyro” Holsiter’s Kawasaki ZX14. The one thing they all have in common? – They all have sights set firmly on Daniel Natalotto’s B/SB Kawasaki…with the the 2-time WA Champ Natalotto chasing the three-peat!

Specialized Tilt Tray & Towing once again backs in the Supercharged Outlaws and Outlaw Radial brackets, both presenting healthy fields of 6 cars (SC/O) and 9 cars (Outlaw Radial). Kasey McClure leads the charge for the Supercharged Outlaws, with the 2x WA Champion looking to claim a third title on the run. She’s joined by the return of Jessica Harper in her Corvette Funny Car, plus Peter Appleby, Vince Belladonna, Norbert Claite and Mark Grieve all chasing glory in a 3-round format! Outlaw Radial features a stacked field with Mark Grose, Brian Hicks, Angela Kemp, ben Pisconeri, Glen Van Dongen, David Wilson and Mick Wormall – plus welcoming new-old names to the field in the form of father-son duo Brock & Stuart Moresby!
