GLASSBY CHASING THIRTIES AT WESTERNATIONALS
Glassby said a new, lighter body has reduced the weight of his car closer to the legal minimum and should be the extra boost he needs to achieve the mark and chase down the world record of 5.36.
“We got a taste of what it was like to hold the world record when we went 5.41 last year and now we want another bit,” said the veteran racer.
“Drag racing is a sport of numbers and we want to put some big time numbers up on those read out boards at Perth Motorplex.”
Glassby expects the competition to push him all the way, with plenty of capable teams heading west to taking on the round of the 400 Thunder Professional Drag Racing Series.
“Guys like Gary Phillips and John Cannuli are breathing down our necks – they’re 5.40 capable and if everything comes together on the night, we might all run thirties!,” he said. “But we’re confident that with the data we have on our home track and the extra development we have put into the VEEM Gyro Pro Alcohol Funny Car we are hoping to be the first ones there.”
The Home Group WA Westernationals is on this Friday and Saturday from 6pm. For more information check out the event page here.
