Every year, Perth Motorplex kicks off a new season with an all-in-one HUGE night of action, featuring all the major portions of the venue going live in the same night. Its truly a sight to behold!
Nowhere else can a motorsports fan see so much action in a single event – and it kicks off THIS SATURDAY!
1 – DRAG RACING
Kicking off the big show from 2.30pm until just after 5.30pm – WA’s toughest drag teams will strut their stuff over the quarter mile! Including some of the quickest and fastest high-horsepower machines from Maurice Brennan and his Holden Commodore Top Doorslammer, to Danny Costello with ‘The Contractor’ Top Alcohol Altered and even Moreno Gullotto and his Turbocharged Lexus SC400. The action doesn’t stop at those three cars either! Solid fields lining up in Pro Eliminator, Sportsman Sedan, Super Bike and Junior Dragster all battling out for the event win in the challenging three-round-format.
2 – JET DRAGSTER
Ian Wood and the Banshee are back! For Powerpalooza, Ian is ready to crank up the flames and pops for the crowd, as ‘The Banshee’ Jet Dragster is set to make 2x full passes down the Perth Motorplex Quarter Mile during the drag racing portion of the show – before he returns later in the night for the FIRE SHOW!
Fans can marvel at the jet-powered machine when they visit the pits, before Ian has the pleasure of piloting the rocket down the racetrack at insane speeds and only a pair of parachutes to stop him in the deep end!
3 – BEAT THE HEAT WA – DRAG RACING THRILL RIDES
4 Lucky fans will get the chance to strap into the Beat the Heat WA Drag cars for a once in a lifetime thrill ride down the drag strip! Operated by off-duty WA Police officers in an effort to spread the road safety message and promote responsible enjoyment of high-performance vehicles – the BTHWA team are super keen to take some fans for an awesome ride – blue and red lights ablaze down the racetrack!
To enter – fans simply just have to buy their tickets online before 12 noon on Friday 20/10/23 and they will instantly go in the draw to WIN! – get your tix here!
4 – BURNOUTS
Once the Drag Racing program settles down – A hand-picked selection of Perth’s best tire-fryers…fresh from the Burnout Boss competition last weekend…will get their chance to smoke up the place from approximately 5.30pm in a frenzy of tire destruction on the Snake Pit!
The Burnout Brigade will each try their best to execute the ‘best tip in’ as they wildly throw their cars sideways into the Snake Pit – before they line up back in order and each get to smoke until the tires POP!
We may even have a special treat for the fans lined up – with some good friends willing to dance with a ‘Tandem Skid’!
5 – SPEEDWAY
As if all the above reasons weren’t enough to get excited about – from approx. 5.30pm the Perth Motorplex ‘half kay of clay’ will roar into life for the first time of the season! The Speedway program is jam-packed with goodness:
- 28x SPRINTCARS for the opening round of the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series
- 19x LATE MODELS
- 14x SPEEDCARS thanks to The Pool Shop Group
- 27x WINGLESS SPRINTS
- 11x FORMULA 500’s Thanks to Opal Finance
The early program starts approximately 5.30pm for Speedway with Sprintcar Hotlaps and Qualifying, plus the first few heat races of the night – and the main events due to kick off after 7pm following the MONSTER FIREWORKS SHOW!
6 – FIREWORKS
Okay – so we gave it away just a little bit in #5…but how can you not be excited about FIREWORKS!
And that’s not all of it either – around 7pm…we will drop the lights and Ian Wood will fire up ‘The Banshee’ Jet Dragster for a huge FIRE SHOW display of Jet Horsepower and afterburner pops…before we get ready to launch the interactive Monster Fireworks show over the top of Perth Motorplex.

7 – THE EXPERIENCE
Nothing beats the total experience at Powerpalooza! The fans, the atmosphere, the food, the noise – and the non-stop-motortainment! Only once a year this opportunity comes along for Perth revheads & race fans alike to experience almost everything the ‘Plex has to offer on a single night – with the same entry ticket!
Don’t forget to take advantage of the Silver ticket access – head down to the pit paddock area and see the cars & drivers up close & personal as they work on their machines between races! Or soak up the sunset on the eastern banks of the drag strip & Speedway back straight with some of the fresh tasty delights from our many food vendors (the Hot cinnamon donuts are our favourite!) Or fans can even enjoy a nice refreshing beverage while watching the Speedway stars battling on the high-banks throughout the night.
